The exhibition The exhibition was conceived by Prof. Dr. Gerrit Hohendorf of the Institute of History and Ethics in Medicine at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Prof. Dr. Maike Rotzoll of the Institute of History and Ethics in Medicine at the University of Heidelberg together with a team of collaborators as part of the DFG knowledge transfer project "Remembrance Means Remembering and Informing" in cooperation with the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Topography of Terror Foundation. The exhibition focuses on the murders of mentally ill and mentally handicapped people under National Socialism, which were organized and planned from Tiergartenstrasse 4 in Berlin. In addition to the murders themselves, the prehistory and preconditions for the killing of patients in Germany and Europe after 1939 are also presented. The connection of the "euthanasia" murders with the Holocaust and the failure to come to terms with the murders after 1945 are also topics. Ten patient biographies form the common thread between the various themes, which also emphasize the individual dimension of the crimes.
The barrier-free touring exhibition can be obtained from the Topography of Terror Foundation (contact: Peter Eckel, eckel@topographie.de).
