Dr. Nora Hangel

Research fellow

Nora Hangel is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for the History and Ethics of Medicine (IGEM) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

She is working on two projects: First, she is investigating ethical and social aspects of biomarkers in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (BIOMAP) as part of an EU Horizon 2020 project. On the other, she is leading the BMBF-funded German subproject of the consortium on Solidarity in Times of Pandemic (SolPan).

She received her PhD in philosophy and specialized as a postdoc in empirical philosophy of science, science studies, and medical ethics. Previously, she worked from 2011 to 2015 at the University of Konstanz on the DFG-funded project "Scientific Integrity in the Context of Integration and Competition" and from 2015 to 2017 at Indiana University Bloomington (USA) on the NSF-funded project "Understanding Scientists' Conceptions of Good Research Practice".

She has published her recent research in the British Journal of Dermatology, Critical Public Health, International Journal of Health Policy and Management, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and European Journal for Philosophy of Science, among others.
