Medical Ethics

Medical ethics research and teaching at the Institute of History and Ethics in Medicine encompasses the entire field of biomedical ethics and public health ethics.

A particular focus is the responsible development and introduction of new biomedical technologies in health care. The Institute advocates an embedded ethics approach, in which ethical aspects are part of the technical development from the very beginning.

- Artificial intelligence in medicine and healthcare

- Development and introduction of robotics in medicine and care

- New concepts of solidarity and participatory approaches in medicine

- Neuroethics

- Research ethics

- Public health ethics

The Institute also has a strong interdisciplinary approach. Members work on research projects and consortia from a variety of disciplines. These include physicians, lawyers, social scientists, philosophers, health economists, psychologists, etc. The members of the Institute themselves come from a wide variety of scientific disciplines.
