The Clinical Ethics Committee (CEC) of the Klinikum rechts der Isar (MRI) of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is an independent multi-professional and interdisciplinary forum that provides information, advice and training on ethical issues in everyday clinical practice.
The objectives of the CEC's work are:
- Promote ethical reflection in everyday clinical practice,
- to support the exchange on ethical topics and thus to
- Improve patient care as well as employee satisfaction.
The CEC was first appointed at MRI in 2011. The members are representatives from the medical service, nursing, pastoral care, law and medical ethics. They are active at different levels of the hospital, in different departments and functions at the hospital, or are members of the CEC as external experts on legal issues. The appointment is made by the board of the clinic.
The CEC is an advisory body. It can be requested by individuals, treatment and ward teams, departments or management. The recommendations drawn up are not binding. All members of the CEC are bound by professional secrecy.
The members of the CEC can be contacted directly or via the office. Depending on the request, the further procedure is decided together with the inquirer.
