Dr. Amelia Fiske

Senior Research Associate

Amelia Fiske ist Senior Research Associate am Institut für Geschichte und Ethik der Medizin an der Technischen Universität München (TUM). Amelia Fiske ist Kulturanthropologin und arbeitet seit 2017 in einem interdisziplinären bioethischen Umfeld. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich an der Schnittstelle von Kulturanthropologie, feministischen Wissenschafts- und Technologiestudien, Sozialmedizin und Bioethik sowie Umwelt- und Geisteswissenschaften. Sie promovierte in Kulturanthropologie an der University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA), hatte eine Postdoc-Stelle an der Universität Kiel inne und führte umfangreiche Feldforschung in Ecaudor durch, bevor sie an die TUM kam.

Amelia Fiske verfügt über mehr als ein Jahrzehnt Erfahrung in der Durchführung interdisziplinärer qualitativer und ethnographischer Forschung in zwei zentralen Bereichen: 1) Anthropologische und kritische sozialwissenschaftliche Ansätze zu Bioethik, künstlicher Intelligenz und digitalen und soziotechnischen Veränderungen in der Wissensproduktion; 2) Ethnographische Aufmerksamkeit für Fragen der sozial-ökologischen Gerechtigkeit, Erfahrungen von Toxizität im Kontext der Extraktion, partizipative Forschungsmethoden und grafische Kunst.

Methodisch ist sie Expertin für qualitative Forschungsmethoden, die auf anthropologischen Theorien beruhen sowie für den Einsatz von Grafik, um Laien sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung näher zu bringen. Sie verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrungen in inter- und multinationalen Kontexten, darunter eine Forschungsstudie über Solidarität in der Pandemie in neun europäischen und zwölf lateinamerikanischen Ländern. Sie hat bereits über 333.000,- € an Forschungsgeldern erhalten, und ihre Arbeiten werden in führenden sozial- und gesundheitswissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften sowie in Grafikmagazinen veröffentlicht.
